Gita Viswam, MD, MPH

Pediatrician
Dr. Viswam’s parents immigrated from India in the 1970s. She was humbly raised to appreciate hard work, selfless service, and family. These values are what drove her to pursue a career in Pediatrics. After graduating from Robert Wood Johnson Medical School in New Jersey, she completed her residency in Philadelphia at St. Christopher’s Hospital for Children.
Dr. Viswam began her career at Plano Children’s Medical Clinic, and soon after was the primary pediatrician at the Wylie location of PCMC. Since then she has worked at Children’s Health Pediatric Group in McKinney and most recently Prosper Pediatrics. She feels fortunate to have spent the majority of her work life doing what gives her the most happiness – caring for vulnerable children. Dr. Viswam is so excited to be a part of the Pediatric Clinic at the Family Health Center on Virginia, a safe and joyful place where every family’s story is worthy of being heard.
Dr. Viswam is married and has two boys. Her own personal experiences with illness has taught her to appreciate the importance of treating the body as a whole being. She loves all things holistic and enjoys focusing her clinical practice on integrative wellness and the mind – body connection.
